Remembering Working with the Hit King

In 1987, we had the chance to work with Pete Rose on filming TV commercials for Gold Star Chili. He was a natural on camera. When we handed the script to Pete, he looked at it, read it, and said, “I really wouldn’t say this that way!” I remember we replied, “OK Pete, just say it the way you would say it.”

The next thing that happened was a great memorable campaign, as Pete held up a coney, and said to the camera: “D’em dogs are go-o-o-d!!!”

There was only one Pete. May he rest in peace.
